Megan provides expert pelvic health physiotherapy services, offering personalised treatment for conditions like pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence, and pelvic pain to improve function and quality of life.
Pre-natal physiotherapy assessments aim to assist women who are experiencing pain or dysfunction as a result of their pregnancy. This may include treatment of conditions such as pelvic girdle pain, lower back pain and carpel tunnel syndrome.
Pre-natal appointments also provide women with the opportunity to seek education and advice regarding optimisation of the pelvic floor muscles for labour and delivery and to learn techniques such as perineal massage.
Postnatal physiotherapy appointments aim to assist women with their recovery from childbirth (c-section and vaginal delivery) and pregnancy with a predominant focus on your pelvic floor and abdominal muscles. Return to exercise following pregnancy and childbirth is vitally important for a mother’s physical and mental wellbeing.
A six-week post-natal appointment is recommended for all women to provide education and assist with the safe return to exercise in the postnatal period. If you are experiencing any symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction or you are concerned about your pelvic floor recovery, please don’t hesitate to contact your physiotherapist or make an earlier appointment.
Continence and Pelvic Health Physiotherapy services includes the assessment and treatment of bladder, bowel and pelvic floor dysfunction in both men and women. Some of these conditions include urinary and faecal incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic and sexual pain disorders as well as pre and post prostatectomy education and advice.
All Physiotherapy appointments are designed to prioritise your specific pelvic health concerns, provide a thorough assessment of your condition and develop a personalised, evidence-based treatment plan.
Pelvic organ prolapse occurs when one or more of the pelvic organs moves down lower in the pelvis as a result of ageing, childbirth, menopause, chronic constipation or other lifestyle factors.
A vaginal pessary is made from medical grade silicone and is often used as a conservative treatment approach for the bothersome symptoms of prolapse including vaginal heaviness, incomplete bladder emptying and the awareness of a vaginal bulge. Megan is trained in the assessment and fitting of a range of different vaginal pessaries.
Our aim at Empowered Pelvic Health is to help all people with pelvic health concerns regardless of your age or the stage of your condition. Telehealth appointments can be arranged for those who experience significant barriers to attending face to face appointments including geographical isolation or transport issues.
Please note that it is strongly advised that you attend a face-to-face appointment if you are able to as a thorough physical assessment is limited with sole telehealth appointments.
Take the first step towards better pelvic health today and empower your life with personalised care.
